Defensive Driving -- Courtesy Is The Counterpoison To Offensive Driving

In order to be courteous to a fellow driver, one first has to be mindful of them… to recognize the presence of them… isn’t that true? The dictionary uses the phrase “consideration toward others” to define politeness.

Let’s think about this for a minute, shall we? The more you march on towards being a master driver, the easier it is to observe that the common feature of defensive driving is your knowing of what’s transpiring beyond your vehicle body borderline.

Most all the issues, except one, that can transform one into a disrespectful driver rotate around actions within the car. Phone calls, chatting to passengers, checking text messages, listening to music… all this is what distracts you from paying attention to road situation.

Another component here is your attitude. Ponder it, if you are displeased about something, a vehicle is not the best spot to be and you should be self-conscious enough to adapt your driving style till you cool off, or not drive at all. Your measure should always be politeness.

If you are courteous then a lot of nice things are transpiring in that CPU in your head. When you are nice, you are focusing on what’s developing outside your vehicle. You are also paying attention to other drivers' demands, which is as good as it gets. There are dozens of chances on the average ride around town to be respectful to fellow drivers. They may not each time perceive your respect, but they normally do. In my extensive experience those minor benignities you donate to complete strangers normally get returned back to you by other complete strangers as if by magic… kind of cool really. You all of a sudden find drivers letting you into tight spaces when earlier they acted up like dorks… magic I advise you.

If you will merely risk to be as nice as possible to other drivers for one week, I foreshow you will be astounded. It really changes your whole perspective on driving while at the same time undoubtedly identifying you as a true jimhickey. Who amongst us doesn’t wish to be a jimhickey?

What ends up transpiring, is that you before long find yourself chasing occasions to give the other guy a break, which leaves you feeling good about yourself. It also directs you… pay attention here… directs you beyond the bubble in your car. You are focusing on what’s transpiring out there much more, when you risk to be courteous to other drivers.

This minor practice in human relations 101 can propel you from an average driver to an excellent one in no time flat. So… you if you seek to be an expert driver, it’s that easy… just cut the other guy some slack. Even if they don’t understand it, you will be a better human being and an adept driver for doing it.
